Three Ways You Can Help The American Red
Cross
1.
Volunteer your time and talent The very foundation of the
American Red Cross is its volunteer work force. Our paid staff provides the
guidance to attract, involve, and develop a diverse and intergenerational
volunteer work force so that the American Red Cross of Summit and Portage
Counites can continue to provide effective services that are responsive to the
changing needs of the American public. Either through leadership or direct
services, our Red Cross paid and volunteer staff work together to deliver on the
American Red Cross Promise, "We'll be there!"

2. Donate blood at an
American Red Cross sponsored blood drive It doesn't take much to
help save a life! Just an hour or so out of your day could mean a lifetime to
someone's child, best friend, grandparent or spouse.
So, what does it take? Donors must be at least 17 years
old, weigh at least 110 punds and be in general good health. We ask that you
bring a valid photo ID and a list of all current medications with you when
you come to donate. You may donate blood every 56 days.
For more information about donating blood, Click here. Or call 1-800-GIVELIFE
(1-800-448-3543).
3. Make a donation
to help us deliver the programs that make a difference in the community
The American Red Cross of Summit and Portage Counties serves the
600,000 people in our local community with a wealth of humanitarian
services including:
The Red Cross is able to provide these services because of the
contributions from people living hee in our community. The American Red Cross is
an independent, nonprofit organization that relies primarily on the generosity
of the American people, corporations, and foundations for support. The Red Cross
is not a government agency and therefore voluntary contributions are the key to
our ability to respond immediatly when Help Can't Wait.
When supporting the American Red Cross, you can feel confident
that your money is being spent wisely. Nationally, an average of 90 cents of
every dollar spent by the Red Cross goes to programs to help those in need. The
real value of the Red Cross is magnified by the fact that the ratio of volunteer
workers to Paid staff is about 41 to 1. Top financial magazines such as
Kiplinger's Personal Finance and Money have consistently rated the Red Cross as
one of the top five U.S. charities in their annual reviews.
